Hamilton Zoo

On Wednesday, we went to the Hamilton Zoo. It was a great looking day when the sun came out. There were lots of parents there when I got to school. I went with Regan, Hunter and Cody. We had to wait for Regan's dad because he was talking to Luke's dad.
When we got there, Regan, Hunter, Cody and I saw the brown capuchin monkeys. They climbed up and down and across the rope.
There were five capuchin monkeys. I saw one up on the roof. It was funny.
meerkat.jpgNext we was the meerkats. There were four. They were playing around until they went home. Once, two meerkats were fighting.
SetWidth174-chimpanzee.jpgWe went in the chimpanzee house. There were 5 or 6 of them. One of the chimpanzees banged on the window. There were heaps of people.

Next, we went and saw the White Rhino. When we were there, we saw them sleeping. They were probably tired because they were looking after their child. It was amazing because they had a small horn on their heads.
hochstetters frog.jpgSetWidth174-tuatara.jpgWe went to the birds next and the frog. When we were there, we saw the Hochstetter's Frog enclosure but we did not see the frog but we saw a lizard. It was very cool.

My Kite

Narrative Story

It was a sunny afternoon. There was a boy called Zac and his parents, and they went to the zoo called Sunny Side Zoo.
“No, I do not want to go to the zoo,” said Zac.
“We are going to the zoo,” said Dad.
When Zach and his parents got there, they saw heaps of cars. Zach thought there was something amazing in there.
When they got in, they saw the cheeky monkeys eating lots of bananas for lunch.
They saw a tall giraffe that had a long neck and yellow fur and long legs. They went to see a lion.
Zac asked a zookeeper, “Can I have a piece of meat so I can feed the lion?”
He got a piece of meat and it was huge. He could not throw it because it was too heavy and slimy. Zach threw the piece of meat. He spun around so fast that he knocked into the fence and fell down where the lion lived.
He was scared because there was a lion. He said to him, “Just stay still and do not move.”
When he was waiting for someone to help him, he was hot and sweaty. He needed water and food.
After a while, he saw a hungry lion approach him. It was taking little steps toward him. He was scared about the lion because it might gobble him up.
He ran as fast as he could. He saw a stone wall. He thought that he could climb that wall. He believed that he could do it. He lifted his arms up. He made it up the wall.

Athletics Day

On Friday, it was Athletics Day. It was windy and frosty cold.
We lined up in our teams. My house was St Ann. The nine year olds did discus first. I did good in discus because I came third for getting a long distance.
Next, it was vortex. Vortex is like javelin. We had practised so we knew what to do. We lined up in two lines. There was a girls' line and a boys' line. 3rd was Luke, 2nd was me and 1st was Regan.
Next, it was high jump. The boys had a higher sports mat than the girls. Samsyn came third and Regan and Luke had a tie.
Next, we went to long jump. The girls had a line so did the boys. We practised to get it right. I remembered to lift my arms up when I jumped.
When it was sprints, I had butterflies in my tummy. All the girls said, "Can the boys go first?" Brother Joe said, "Take your marks, get set, go!"
We sprinted like a lightning bolt, down the track. 1st was Luke, 2nd was Regan and third was me.
The 200 metre one would be hard because we have to go around the track but I still came third.

World of Maths

Today, at school, the class went into the hall for World of Maths. We were given a number and my number was four. We had to have a group and my group was William, Ella and Keira.
There was a puzzle that was real hard and I could not work it out.
The first game was Secret Message and the word was Safe. Now open it. It was not that hard.
Some were easy but some were hard.
When I did the puzzle, the first puzzle was a square but that one was too hard for me then I saw a puzzle that had a rocket going into space. I put the pieces together and solved the puzzle.

Bullying Poem

When I see a bully, it makes people sad.
The other people that don't get bullied look very glad.
If you see a bully, don't go near
'Cause you might get fear.

Easter

On Sunday, it was Easter. I woke up and I said to them, "Why are you up before me?"
"Mum said I woke up so I can watch TV."
I zoomed out the black sliding door and went outside. It was cold outside so I went back inside. Mum had something at the back of her. It was an Easter Egg.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Room 4s Brithdays Months

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We live  a  Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To live simply means don't play on the computer, don't use pens, don't ride on a bike or in a car, don't have a radio, don't have a playground, don't have a phone or an ipad, don't have a heater, don't have money, don't have a clock, don't have a tv and don't have a bed.

Hot Air Balloon

Today the whole school went for a balloon ride. The balloon had my colours red and orange and yellow.
The balloon was big like a huge car.
Mr K and Mrs Atkins and I went for a balloon ride. I was scared because we went high. The flames were burning my hair off. I was burning hot because the flames went in the balloon. Up up and away we went, off  like a slow walk.
That was fun floating in the balloon. It was my first time on a balloon ride. I was dizzy like crazy. The balloon was the great thing. I wanted to go in the air. It was amazing.

Honey Bees

What I found out: Bees are a flying type of insect. They are worse than flies because they can sting us. Bees get nectar to make honey for us to eat. There are five types of honey and they are - clover, Kanuka, Rewarewa, clover honey and comb honey.
